It starts from the historic center of Città della Pieve and after a walk in the network of streets of the village you go down along the road that, just outside the walls, follows the S. Selvatico ditch with its cliffs and its views of the city.
You cross interesting olive groves and you can see how the entire Pievese slope facing the Cetona and the Amiata is deeply furrowed by incisions caused by the waters of the ditches. Continue downhill between the S. Selvatico ditch and the Molinella ditch in the midst of olive groves and beautiful spring blooms of broom and rock rose.
Paying attention to the signs and enjoying the view overlooking the Tuscan villages of Sarteano, Chianciano and Montepulciano, you pass from the low scrub to a wood that becomes more and more dense and humid as you approach Molinella.
You wade through the ditch among the typical and luxuriant riparian vegetation where you can also notice the presence of the chestnut tree.
It meets the confluence of the Molinella with the S. Selvatico ditch immersed in a forest of willows, poplars, hornbeam, Turkey oak and holly on the slopes. The walk along the valley floor at the foot of the hills is particularly pleasant.
You arrive at a large area of the plain and continue on the right walking on farm paths until you reach the dirt road that goes up towards Città della Pieve. You pass through vineyards and agricultural fields, encountering farmhouses of great beauty.
Continue on a slight slope which becomes accentuated as you go through olive groves and portions of mixed wood where holm oak prevails. You skirt the deep crack caused by the ditch up to a passage that allows you to pass to the other side. Passing by large oaks you reach the first houses of the Barricate district, thus returning to Città della Pieve.
