It starts from Castiglione della Valle, in the Municipality of Marsciano and takes the direction of Pietrafitta-Tavernelle turning left to ford the Nestore stream and then go up along a good dirt road between oak woods and luxuriant olive groves. Return to the asphalted road to follow it up to the junction for Montepetriolo.
You reach the small village by pulling straight towards the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie (1517) to descend on a dirt track with a natural bottom and arrive, among uncultivated, wooded clearings and olive groves, to the road to Mugnano from where you go up after a while to San Martino of the Hills. Enjoying the beautiful views, descend until you cross the route of the ancient Ellera-Tavernelle railway, right at the height of the old roadman's house, now dilapidated, submerged by brambles and weeds.
Turn right following the route of the ancient via ferrata to pass through a series of intersections first Pilonico Materno and then Bagnaia. From here a dirt road leads us to Bosco Sereni and then to the driveway to the Villa of Tenuta La Torricella. We are in the heart of one of the most significant and interesting plain origin woods in the region.
Continue along the main road and then, having made some detours, you arrive at the dirt track used for the throwing of the Ruzzolone, an ancient peasant game which consists in throwing a circular wooden shape, wrapped in a belt, along a predetermined route (the winner is the one who crosses the finish line with the fewest jumps).
The end of the Ruzzolone track coincides with the exit from the Sereni forest and the intersection with the Strada Comunale di Bagnaia. Going back to Pilonico Materno, you cross fertile land generally cultivated with corn and tomatoes, until you reach the state road of Spina. Cross a bridge over the Caina and return to the starting point.
