Description

Kieran Mulvaney, writer and environmentalist, tells Paciano in the Washington Post: "my first thought arrived here is that it is exactly how a Hollywood production designer would represent a medieval village".

Where to go for a visit? From the heart of the historic center, from Palazzo Baldeschi, seat of the information office and TrasiMemo, the "Don Aldo Rossi" Museum is just a few steps away.

Caskets of treasures meet in the alleys of the village, churches, decorations of madonnas, balconies, small commercial spaces for food and wine and crafts that together with the Town Hall in Piazza della Repubblica deliver a harmonious image of the medieval village.

Leaving you can continue towards cultural and hiking trails, for example in the Church of Madonna della Stella, there is a beautiful cycle of Mannerist frescoes that tells one of the traditional stories: a star that rests on the Madonna's mantle frescoed inside.

Visiting these areas is an opportunity to discover precious and often unknown cultural heritage, savor delicious typical products and enjoy the landscape, for example along the Via Romea Germanica, a route from 1200 that from Stade (Germany) reaches Rome and passes through here connecting Castiglione del Lago and Città della Pieve.
