Description

Ancient villages among unforgettable sunsets.

The eastern coast of Trasimeno is made up of villages full of charm and history from which to admire the sunsets over the lake for their unique spectacularity:

San Savino, with its medieval castle and triangular tower;
San Feliciano, a charming and authentic fishing village;
Montecolognola, a fourteenth-century village with a unique view of the coast;
Monte del Lago, an architectural jewel overlooking the lake;
Agello with its splendid 11th century fortress;
Sant'Arcangelo and Torricella, welcoming and well-equipped tourist centers.

Magione, the capital, houses the Castle of the Knights of Malta, built in the 12th century as a fortified hospital: perfectly preserved, it can be visited and hosts guided tastings and events.

The internal courtyard which hosts the “Trasimeno Music Festival” in July, an international review of classical music directed by virtuoso pianist Angela Hewitt, is splendid.

In Magione there is also the ancient Torre dei Lambardi, a fortress built between the 12th and 13th centuries by the Knights of Jerusalem, which stands in an elevated position over the town with a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside.

Magione is also a place dedicated to sport: from motors, thanks to the presence of the Umbrian racecourse, to sailing on the coast; from hill trekking to windsurfing; from quad biking in the woods to kiting along the beaches.
